Overview
The White Book opens to a white canvas with twelve cans of paint and one paintbrush. Tapping on a can, changes the color of the paint shown on the brush. If the player touches the paintbrush or anywhere on the canvas, their finger turns into the paintbrush. As budding artists fill the screen with color, they uncover adorable hidden animals. Touching an animal will make it respond in fun and unusual ways. While there are no words, the app is filled with expressive musical sounds. The White Bookapp is based on a picture book of the same name.
12 Hidden Animals to Uncover
A cute hippopotamus hides in the blue paint and he blows bubbles when tapped. The red paint camouflages a lady bug, while the purple conceals an octopus. There's a crab clapping his pinchers in the orange, and a scampering mouse in the gray. With the three birds inside of the magenta paint, your child can tap on them to create a song with their tweets. Each animal has a fun animation accompanied by a musical or percussive sound. They exit the page by flying, scuttling, lumbering, or running out of the color to cross a white expanse before disappearing. It is darling to watch.
A Great Toddler App
The White Book is a perfect starter app for toddlers or young preschoolers because it entices them to interact with the device's screen. They learn cause and effect, since every action they make is rewarded with paint appearing or an animal doing a cheeky animation. Even when the animals are exiting, touching them makes them respond in some manner. This is an engagingly silly way to introduce young children to colors, animals, musical sounds, and how to paint.
Best For
The White Book is a great app for all toddlers and works well with preschoolers new to using an iDevice.
