Why It Is Worth Downloading?
Kids love to create worlds in which to explore, and with Play-Origami Ocean (formerly Paper Ocean) they fold their own ocean into existence.
How to Play
The folding of origami creatures is as simple as swiping your finger along dotted lines to crease the virtual paper and then dragging the creased paper to match a dots. In just a few strokes, kids can fold into being 20 sea creatures, including an angel fish, a penguin, and a humpback whale. All of the folded creatures can be decorated with paint, mustaches, and hats; and then they magically come to life to swim in the app's ocean.
As kids produce origami, they earn pearls to buy animated stickers that help bring the ocean to life. Six of the stickers also house mini-games, including one about playing soccer with a crab goalie.
What Makes This Origami App Good?
Since virtual origami doesn't deliver the satisfaction of creating a 3D object, digital origami is only fun if something magical happens when you finish following the instructions on how to fold. Play-Origami Ocean delivers by having your creations come alive and swim in the ocean.
The ability to personalize your creations with color and accessories is an added benefit that will appeal to creative kids. Parents will like this is a self-contained world, with no in-app purchases, that slowly unlocks over time. It puts kids in charge of creating their own unique ocean.
Best For
Play-Origami Ocean works well for crafty kids, animal-lovers, and maker-types. It is also a great app to download before traveling with kids, since it takes time to unlock all that it has to offer.
