An Underwater Adventure
Offering stunning underwater scenes and delightful animated fish that closely resemble actual species found in the ocean, this adventure lets kids explore a coral reef to find and rescue trapped fish.
How to Play
Starring Fugu, a pufferfish with a "can-do" attitude, kids direct him through treacherous waters filled with biting eels, deadly sharks and stinging sea urchins. As kids navigate a series of underwater environments, each containing three fish to rescue, they learn about a reef villain trapping innocent fish in glass jars to transport them out of the ocean. With fingertip-controlled play mechanics, terrific tutorials, and fun power-ups -- including having Fugu puff up more than twice his normal size to be temporarily invincible -- this fast-paced game is fascinating to explore. Kids can even direct Fugu to ride the currents and enjoy bouncing off a series of sponges.
Why This App is Good
While this app is worth "diving" into just to see the spectacular underwater visuals created by Andy Jones, Avatar's Academy Award winning Animation Director, it also has some other features that set it apart. It offers educational science tidbits, narrated by National Geographic Explorer Dr. Sylvia Earle, about each species of fish rescued. Plus, its parental controls let caregivers set time limits for play, override audio settings, and see a report card. The latter shows how long a child has played, how many fish have been saved, and whether they are listening to the scientific facts.
Superfugu is great for kids who love adventure because it has moments of fast action and light danger. It is also perfect for those who enjoy exploring nature. This breath-taking game, packed with learning, will appeal to adults as well as kids.
