“Click & Create with Mia” is a great way to introduce children to art on the computer. Hosted by Mia the mouse, the software offers five areas of exploration, each with an animated tutorial to help children figure out how to use the exciting tools.
“Click & Create” contains a traditional paint program, offering a blank canvas surrounded by paint tools. Kids can draw with virtual chalk, paint, markers, and stamps—or they can color pages.
In the draw section, kids are taught how to draw 27 different animals and objects. The instructions are in the form of videos that kids can easily advance step-by-step.
The shapes section encourages children to explore shapes to create objects. In the multimedia section, kids can fashion scenes with darling animated stickers and music. The projects section is chock full of ideas from stationery to mobiles.
What sets this program apart from other art programs is its feature that allows kids to create something in one section, and then use it in another. For example, if children make a fish in the shapes section, they can then use their drawing to design stationery in the projects section. This program is so good because the structured activities give children confidence to try their hand at art, while the open-ended activities allow them to soar.
