Scooby-Doo! Jinx at the Sphinx

A mystery's afoot in Egypt with howling mummies and missing persons!
The Bottom Line
Fun Scooby-Doo mystery with a spooky Egyptian vibe that fans of the franchise will adore.

Scooby Doo, the wussy Great Dane detective, and his cohorts, Shaggy, Velma, Fred, and Daphne are off to Egypt to visit Velma’s cousin Thelma, an Egyptologist. When Thelma fails to show up at the entrance to the pyramid, and Scooby and the gang are then chased by a howling mummy, a mystery is afoot.

How to Play

As Scooby and the gang search for Thelma in the pyramid, at the sphinx, in the nearby town, and at some ancient ruins, they meet suspects and collect clues. At many locations, if players solve puzzles or play games, they win more clues or other things necessary to move the mystery forward.

Game Analysis

Jinx at the Sphinx. is the third in the Scooby-Doo mystery series, and it is the easiest. While the software allows the mystery to be played on three levels of difficulty, the levels affect the embedded games and puzzles but do not change the gamepath of the mystery. However, the clues obtained differ when the software is played more than once so the mystery can have a different outcome.
Wonderful graphics depict the fascinating Egyptian ruins. The mystery has the right mix of spooky and silly, and the "goovy" language used by this 1970s gang is greatly amusing to new millennium kids. The embedded games and puzzles are nothing new, but they serve as enjoyable entertainment—players may catch dropping fruit or sort famous monuments from tallest to shortest.
